While large charitable organizations do extraordinary humanitarian work around the world, they have a considerable administrative overhead. Some of your contribution goes to maintain the organization and office buildings, pay for staff etc. This is not a bad thing--just the practical reality.

GraceWorks, on the other hand, is an all-volunteer foundation, and our goal is to deliver your entire donation to the place of need, with the exception of unavoidable registration and ongoing accounting costs.  We hope to accomplish our overall mission aided by the time and effort of generous friends who share our vision.

How Far Will My Dollar Go?

This is a question all donors should be concerned about. By way of an answer, let me share with you the following experience:
Not long ago, I’d given a small donation of a hundred dollars (approximately six thousand rupees) to a friend visiting India. On her return, she wrote the following to tell me how she’d used my money:
“Satyanarayana, a poor suicidal farmer was on the verge of dying after consuming poison until Rs.3000 of your money helped for his treatment. Ramesh, a student who cannot afford good clothes was able to purchase a few pairs of clothes with your money (Rs.1000). Venkateswarlu, a diabetic petrol pumping guy found out he had heart problem, so some of your money helped his treatment (Rs.500). A poor little boy, whose name I cannot remember, was bitten by a stray dog and he needed rabies shots and your money helped through that (Rs.500).”
Must I say more? The need is everywhere. The need is endless. And you and I can address it and help bring about much-needed relief in the lives of the poor and powerless.
